Renovations are an inherently painful process but when you are living in the apartment during the project, the tensions can escalate very quickly. We were fortunate to have found Mark Markay, the founder of Markay Renovations Inc. who went above and beyond our expectations with regard to transforming our home while respecting and maintaining our living space, the latter of which clearly created more work for the team. Despite this, Mark and his team worked diligently to keep the project on our timeline and created a space we are utterly thrilled with.
Mark’s skill sets far exceed those of an excellent general contractor in that his design instincts were a tremendous help and saved us added costs. In addition his willingness to roll up his sleeves and take on some of the most important tasks (e.g. bathroom tiles) separates him from other general contractors, and in doing so, the finished product is not just another job, but a personal reflection of his abilities and attention to detail.
Mark’s availability to discuss the project, commitment to stay on budget, attention to detail as well as his aforementioned design instincts/craftsmanship made him an easy referral for friend’s who have seen our apartment and asked if we would recommend him for their projects.
Regarding costs, we interviewed several contractors and found Mark’s prices largely comparable yet the craftsmanship of the finished product coupled with the ease of interactions with Mark and his team made the experience well worth it.

Where do I begin? From my first meeting with Mark, his warm personality and obvious passion for what he does put me at ease right away. After explaining what my needs were...his proposal was thorough and well planned, much better than the other 2 proposals I received. Letting someone into your home is stressful enough, let alone doing work while you are not there! He had about a week to get the work done while I was away for a business trip. Because I work from home it was very important that this work be completed when I wasn't there. But, I had nothing to worry about...I left for my trip and Mark had full access to my apartment and did a fantastic job! Not a single splatter of paint anywhere, on anything! And he had to paint the ceilings and everything...as well as sand and finish, with ALL my furniture and belongings present! I was expecting to come home and find at least some dust, not at all! The cleanup was as amazing as the work that was done! I could not be happier with his attention to detail, caulking, preparing, everything...which for me is the most important. I've already referred Mark to 2 of my friends for other work...and just know he will make them as happy as he did me! In NY its not easy to find someone who will do work like this with such care and expertise. I highly recommend him and know you will feel the same way when he works for you!

We could not be more pleased with the work done by Mark on the renovation / combination of our apartments. We were recommended to Mark by our Marble Fabricator and by Waterworks after the original sub hired by our GC could not adhere to the quality and craftsmanship we expected for a high end job.
