I have worked with many contractors over years of extensive renovation projects and I cannot imagine working with anyone but Mark for all future projects. Not only is his work impeccable, but his sense of design is extremely creative.
I highly recommend Mark Markay.

I took a meeting with Mark on a friends recommendation. I had just bought a place on 119th Street and was taking bids from different contractors to gut renovate it. Had some other meetings and I just didn't think the other people understood what I wanted as everything they showed me looked cheap and unoriginal. Mark came and saw the place and we discussed the esthetic I was going for and he listened to what I wanted and then proceeded to explain what he wanted to do with pictures of other projects he did and some quick drawings he did on the spot. I felt like he understood the "modern but cozy" look I wanted and helped me design the apartment of my dreams. In the bathroom I told him I wanted to do white tile walls but have a statement floor and he showed me a floor that I fell in love with instantly and didn't even want to see anything else as my mind was made up on the spot I was doing that floor. In the kitchen I was working with the management company of my building trying to get approval to tear down the kitchen walls and make the apartment open concept. Mark worked with the management company to get the tear down approved and then when we ran into the problem of some building pipes that couldn't be moved Mark came up with the design idea to do a statement stainless steel wall around them which gets many compliments. When designing the kitchen island it was his idea for me to get a compact dishwasher so I would have room to fit one more seat around the corner of it (and it's the seat that's used the most often). I was concerned I wasn't going to have enough upper cabinet space since I tore down the wall with most of the upper cabinets. Mark came up with the idea to cut a hole in the far wall and insert a shallow cabinet for my glass storage. When I mentioned that I was I was thinking of doing some sort of wood lament flooring throughout rest of the apartment he talked me into a beautiful and modern 5 inch real hardwood oak in a gray tone. Looks very modern and elegant and so happy I listened and did that. I hadn't really thought about changing the interior doors and closet doors in the apartment but Mark took one look at them and said that they would stand out and look bad if I didn't (he was right as they would have stood out and looked awful). He changed the way the closet doors open as well and put them on a more modern upper slider track instead of the accordion style that was in there. And he mentioned that the bathroom may feel more open if we did a frosted glass door. Loved that idea and went with it. He also worked with Time Warner cable and installed all my cable wires into the wall so they are not visible. A small touch I didn't even think about but makes a huge difference having those wires inside the walls and not running on top of the baseboards.
Mark was a huge help in the initial design process and understood what I was looking for and professionally executed those ideas into a beautiful apartment I'm proud to call home.
